Case closed

Today Mrs. Taaffe confessed about the Whetu crime, she was the one who committed the crime in Whetu on Saturday 10th. She went to drop off some work at the office but she needed an HDMI cable so she came to Whetu and in the class, she saw some chocolates so she took them. We told her everything we found out then she knew that we were on to her so she had to admit that she did it we had a lot of evidence to back us up.

Athletics

This week was athletics and it was a good day for it. First up was the 100m race I was nervous because I am not a good runner I still tried and Joseph just bet me so I came fourth. Then I did shot put at first I did not have a good attitude but Mrs.Barker told me how to do so I felt more confident I did not make it into HP but I had fun. For the high jump, I could not even jump 95cm so I was out but I enjoyed watching the winners jump really high. When it was time to do the long jump I was excited because I knew I was good at that, the line was long so I did not get to jump for a long time I think that I did well but I don't know. I was sitting in the sun for a long time so I started to get a headache I drank all my water so my throat was dry. I did the 200m that was hard because I had hard competition I came third so I did not make it to HP but I had fun, my house team did not win any of the relays at least I don't think but I was not paying attention.

My Dave Dobbyn report

Dave’s full name is David Joseph Dobbyn and he was born in Auckland on the 3rd of January 1957. He has two children, one of them is 11 and his name is Eli and his daughter Grace is 13.   His wife is Anneliesje. He went to the local Catholic School Sacred Heart College.

Dave Dobbyn and The Herb’s released one of their hit songs ‘Slice of heaven’ in 1986. He made it into the top 10 songs for his song ’’Welcome Home’’ which was released in 2006, he won the best songwriter of the year for it. He is famous for his music career that he started off in mid-1976 continuing to the present.

I chose Dave Dobbyn because he is one of my mum’s favourite singers. Before his career started in high school he had serious stage fright and stayed at the back of the group and sang with his eyes closed.

My workshop reflection

During Term 2 and 3 the WhetÅ« students have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of different workshops.

The workshop that I have enjoyed participating in the most has been the drama one because we played if you love me honey give me a smile.

The new learning that I have learnt is that you can make string into a pompom and then attach a beak and a tail and turn it into a bird.

What I have most enjoyed about the workshops is that we don’t have to do the one that we don’t want to do because we can pick what we do.

I am interested in learning more about how chemical reactions work so I can de an expert at science.

My 2020 term 2 reflection

The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is the Blog Challenge. You don’t have to do it but I do because it is very fun. My favourite one was the ‘’In 10 years’’ because I did it on my birthday, so I could say I would be twenty.

Something that has challenged me this term has been the Maths Challenge because I had not done it before. I did not know how to do it which meant it was very hard but I got used to it.

The Whetu Challenge I enjoyed the most was the Catapult Challenge because I was an expert and I did it very well. I was in a team with Franklin and Ben, our catapult made it into the finals but we did not win.

The opt-in workshop I enjoyed the most was the Bean Growing because I love to eat them raw. I planted a bean and it looked like it would not sprout but during the weekend it had a growth spurt and now it is a big bean.

The paper plane challenge

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper
to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be very easy because
I knew how to make paper planes.

I decided to use the design of a normal paper plane but I tried others.

The hardest part was throwing the paper plane because I did not get time to test it.

During our competition time, I managed to score 0 because I got past the hangar.

My maths challenge

This week I did the maths challenge with Franklin it was quite easy this time there were two clues in one my answer was Ruby. This is my Maths challenge

My tennis ball challenge

Tennis Ball Tower Challenge

Today for our Whetu Challenge we worked in a group to build a tower out of newspaper, 2 straws, and sellotape. We needed to make our tower strong enough to hold a tennis ball and be able to stand alone (not leaning on anything or needing support).

Today I worked with Franklin and Christian.

At first, we had trouble agreeing on what to do.

The easiest thing was making the supporter beams.

The best part of our tower was the pouch.

Our tower looked like the Eiffel tower.

In the end it worked.

bit crunchy because we didn't beat the sugar in properly but it still tasted nice.
We gave the cake to my mum's friend who is a nurse at the ngatea health center and she
shared it with the other nurses.

Wood chip pile

A few weeks ago I got my dad's motorbike spreader lid and I went to the wood chip pile and then I climbed it and slid down on it and it went super fast. The next day my dad made another thing to slide down on it went even faster it was made of pond liner and had twine threaded through holes cut on the front then he made another one but instead of twine, it was bungee rope. Now we just  jump off the side. Now the pile is taller than our house and as long as the shed.

My Chapter Challenge this week

I have made a scratch video about vertical trains.
Over the past week and a half, I have been working on scratch
to complete my activity, I also have found one fact because I had some spare
time. I reckon I was a shooting star because I could have done
better than I did. It was hard to get pictures so I made a train on scratch.

First blog post 2020

Something that I was nervous about when starting the new year at school getting in trouble.
Because I had a pencil case and it didn’t say on my stationary list.

The activity I have enjoyed the most this week is the water slide.
The water slide was very fun, we could go on our front or our knees.

Someone who has helped me so far is Janko. He helped me
with my avatar but then I figured it out.
